International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that worldwide demand for wearable devices declined in the second quarter of this year. Apparently, this is due to the current geopolitical situation and high inflation.
IDC statistics take into account shipments of smart watches, fitness bracelets, fully wireless headphones, etc. It is estimated that 107.4 million wearable gadgets were sold globally from April to June inclusive. This is 6.9% less compared to the same period of the previous year.
The largest market player is Apple with a share of approximately 25%. In addition, the top five manufacturers include Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Imagine Marketing. All other industry participants together control 43%. A total of 535.5 million wearable devices are projected to be sold globally in 2022. Approximately the same number of gadgets were shipped last year.
